Fresh and Local - The Future of Food in New England

Are grocery bills getting you down? Do you wish you could find more locally grown produce in the supermarket?

Where and how our food is grown, processed, transported and sold are factors that impact our health - both physically and financially. Lettuce from California often arrives in the northeast wilted and unsellable, whereas lettuce grown locally is fresher and cheaper.

We've assembled a panel of food experts who study and work on these issues. Andy Kendall is at the forefront of efforts to foster real change in food production and distribution; Cathy Stanton, an academic and writer, has also fought in the trenches so to speak, doing in-depth research in the grocery store; and Martin Philip is both head baker at King Arthur Baking Company, food writer (specifically on bread), and banjo player with a keen interest in the state of our food system.
