A very interesting workshop on natural building will take place in Crete and this is going to be the last one of Cob.gr for this summer. At Syntrofia at Chania, we will work with the interior layout of a kitchen and a geodesic dome. We will build using almost all the known natural building techniques and we will build with mortars based on both clay and lime. �
The workshop is introductory to natural building and is aimed at beginners or slightly advanced. �
Theory topics:
- Clay and natural materials in general. How to recognize them, where to find them and how to work with them.
- Analysis of natural building techniques. How, where and when they are used in construction. Strengths and weaknesses
- Green roofs.
- Floors made of natural materials.
- Natural plasters.
- Natural paints.
Time: From the afternoon of Thursday 25 to the afternoon of Sunday 28 September. Participants will be together and briefed on Thursday afternoon.
Place: With tents at the workshop site
Equipment: You will need a sleeping bag and sleeping pad, a set of clothes that you don't mind getting dirty with dirt and flip-flops.
Participation cost: 150€ per person, which includes food (vegetarian). To confirm your participation, you will need to deposit the amount of 50€.
