Events & Rules;
1. Max Axle Press
Athletes have 3 attempts to find thier max axle clean and press. Each attempt will be allowed 60 seconds, with a good lift being called when the axle is locked out in a stable position. Soft and stiff belts, wrist wraps, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves and chalk allowed. No straps or grip aids permitted. Shoes must be worn. No stacking of belts other than standard stiff belt over soft belt configuration. Belt cleans permitted. False belt looping to create a shelf, will not be allowed and result in a warning.
2. Conan's Wheel
Athletes have 60 seconds to pick up the bar in a zercher position and carry the implement around the wheel for maximum distance. If the implement is dropped or begins to drag, the attempt will stop and distance measured. Soft and stiff belts, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves and wrist wraps and chalk allowed. No other grip aids, grip shirts or resting the bar on belts permitted. Shoes must be worn. If the implement scrapes the ground and is kept moving and lifted off the ground, a warning will be given. If it is deemed to be being dragged, time will stop and distance taken.
3. Natural Stone Put.
Each athlete will have 3 attempts to shot put the stone for maximum distance. This will be run in a Highland Games format where the athlete will throw from a box, behind a trig, into the throwing field. A pin will mark that throw, and moved outward if the athlete betters it on subsequent attempts. Every female athlete will cycle through in 3 rounds, then final distances measured, followed by each male athlete. The stone must be thrown in one hand and start, tucked under the chin. Belts, football boots, wrist wraps, chalk, knee and elbow sleeves permitted. Static, spinning and moving throws are permitted, however if a thrower is uncontrolled, they may be stopped and further attempts will be forfeited (this is for the safety of both the thrower and other athletes, crew and apectators). If the athlete throws a foul (outside the side markers) or steps out over the front of the trig at any time during or after the throw, the attempt will considered a no throw and not scored.
4. Max Axle Deadlift
Standard 3 lift max rules. Athletes will have 3 attempts, with each being 60 seconds once the bar is called as loaded, to deadlift the axle to lock out, where a good lift call will be given, for max weight. Deadlift suits, briefs, fig 6 & 8 straps, knee sleeves, soft & stiff belts and chalk allowed. Socks or shoes as a minimum must be worn on the platform. No sumo stance or "finger tipping" allowed. The lift must be fully locked out, with hips through and no soft knees.
5. Stone To Shoulder
Athletes have 60 seconds to achieve as many repetitions as possible, lifting the stone from the ground to shoulder, where it must be stable and held with 1 hand, the other visibly clear of the stone. A good rep call will be given, where the stone can be dropped forward and the next rep attempted.
Tacky, soft & hard belts, knee & elbow sleeves, grip shirts, wrist wraps and stone guards permitted.
The stone must sit on the shoulder, not the chest or back, to be given a good lift. The rep will only be awarded once one hand has been clearly released from the stone and it is in a stable position. If the stone is dumped/dropped behind the athlete, the rep will not be counted and you must start it again.
Any instances where an athlete passes out, their attempt will be immediately stopped and they will forfeit any further attempts at that event. If a second instance of passing out occurs the athlete will be withdrawn from the competition. All athletes must read and agree to the Coal City Competition Code of Conduct. Your registration and payment are considered acceptance of this code. Any violations of the code may result in a warning or instant removal from the competition at the promoters discretion. Any athletes who are deemed to be lifting outside of the specified rules will be given a warning. If a second warning is given, the athlete may be disqualified from the competition.
