Imbolc is a Celtic fire festival traditionally celebrated around February 1 that marks the turning point between the darkest days of winter and spring renewal. Its Old Irish name means “in the belly,” a reference to the pregnant ewes and the promise of renewed life to come. Honored at this time is the triple goddess Brigid who presides over the three aspects of healing, poetry, and transformation as well as the three life stages of maiden, mother, crone (and so much more). Brigid’s archetypal energy is strongest as the light returns and the first stirrings of growth begin out of winter’s stillness.
Echoing the journey from darkness to light, this eight week yoga series centers on mindfulness, self-care and restoration. Through posture, breath, meditation, the dance of movement and stillness and gentle seasonal rituals, we’ll use the darker months of the year to nurture the body, settle the mind, rekindle inner warmth and explore self-comfort as we move toward Imbolc. Each week offers space to move, reflect, and rebuild energy—tapping into natural rhythms and encouraging nourishment as we prepare for spring’s return.
