Join us as we get ready to celebrate Easter!
We will be making Resurrection Eggs (the Easter version of an Advent Calendar).
First: Decorate repurposed egg cartons with recycled materials like crepe paper, book pages, and craft paper.
Second: Place a scripture verse and symbol in each plastic egg. There are 12 eggs with 12 verses along with 12 items representing 12 events leading up to the beautiful morning when Christ is resurrected.
1. Palm leaf: When Jesus came into Jerusalem, people waved palm branches at him and shouted praises to him. Mark 11:1-11
2. Silver Coin: Judas betrayed Jesus and helped have him arrested. The chief priests paid Judas 30 silver coins to do this. Matthew 26:14-16
3. Cracker: The night before he was to die, Jesus shared a special meal with his disciples (the Last Supper). Jesus served bread and wine to symbolize His body and blood that he gave for us. Today we remember Him by taking communion. Luke 22:7-23
4. Olive leaf: Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray before His death. Matthew 26:36-46
5. Chicken Feather: Peter denies Jesus 3 times before a rooster crows: Matthew 26:69-75
6. Leather strip: Jesus was arrested and beaten with a leather whip: Matthew 27:26
7. Purple Cloth: Before they crucified him, they put a purple robe on him and a crown of thorns on his head. Mark 15:16-17
8. Nails: When the soldiers put Jesus on the cross, they pounded nails into his hands and fee. John 19:17-18
9. Dice: When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. Matthew 27:35
10. White Cloth: After Jesus died, a man named Joseph of Arimathea took his body and wrapped it in linen cloth and put it in the tomb. Luke 23:50-56
11. Stone: The tomb was sealed with a large stone: Matthew 27:60
12. Empty: On the third day, the women came to the tomb and found the stone rolled away and Jesus body gone. He has risen! Matthew 28:1-10

Expect the workshop to last about 2 hours.
