Following the London launch of her latest album, The Second High, acclaimed Australian songwriter Liz Stringer will head back home for an extended tour kicking off in October.
But this 17-date tour is more than just a chance for Stringer to share her latest piano-driven, emotionally rich release with fans across the country. Presented by Double J, Select Music and Remote Control Records, in partnership with Wombat Housing Support Services, the To Survive tour also doubles as a campaign to spotlight Australiaās growing housing crisis and raise critical funds for those most in need.
A long-time advocate for social equity, Liz began to use her platform to highlight the issues faced by young and underprivileged people experiencing housing instability and sleeping rough in Australia after a successful fundraising show for Wombat at Melbourneās Thornbury Theatre in late 2021.
A renowned storyteller, one of the tracks on Lizās new record The Second High documents the real-life story of one of the inspirational staff at Wombat. The soaring, anthemic To Survive tells a compelling, visceral tale of a young manās struggle growing up on the streets of Melbourne, and strength and resilience of the community he represents.
A fitting title, then, for a tour that also celebrates one of Stringerās most triumphant albums to date, and will no doubt offer the unique catharsis ā along with addictive grooves, expert arrangements and musical and vocal prowess - that fans of Stringersā music and live performance have come to crave.
At each show, audiences will be given the opportunity to donate a chosen amount directly to Dhelkaya Health using a QR code displayed across the venue.
