CARVER ON THE MINNESOTA, INC. will once again host Carver’s 9th ANNUAL GAZEBO TREE LIGHTING celebration on Saturday, December 6, with a special FUNDRAISER dedicated to advancing the organization’s Carver Stories: Oral Histories project. The free family event’s activities will be held in Carver’s Gazebo Park from 3:00 to 6:00 PM beginning with live music, s’mores over a campfire, free horse drawn wagon rides in downtown Carver at 4PM, culminating in in the countdown to light the Tree and Gazebo at 6 PM. The special FUNDRAISER event will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM in the Lobby and Broadway Conference Room at Carver City Hall.
With the support of a Minnesota Historical Society Legacy Grant, Carver On The Minnesota has spent the past 4 months collecting video interviews with longtime residents about significant events in Carver’s history. These interviews preserve key community events and personal memories and are intended to be made publicly accessible. Funds raised at this year’s event will support the next steps of the project, including video editing, the addition of historic photographs, and development of digital platforms—such as a new YouTube channel, and a website—to share the stories more widely. The organization also plans to offer live community showings of the finished interviews.
As part of the fundraiser, attendees will have access to two unique donation opportunities.
