Remaining Native Free Screening at Stewart

The Stewart Indian School Cultural Center & Museum is hosting a free outdoor community screening of award-winning documentary film Remaining Native , in honor of Orange Shirt Remembrance.

Join us for a special evening from 4PM-9PM and bring your chair and blanket to watch the film on the Stewart quad.

Meet the film team, enjoy giveaway items, explore the cultural center and silk screen a custom Remaining Native T-shirt designed by Kutove Stevens with Laika Press. (bring your own cotton t shirt, or buy one on site to support the film's impact campaign)

Concessions will be sold to support Stewart's Annual Father's Day Powwow.

4:00PM-6:30 PM- Silk Screen Printing, Concessions, and Organization Tabling

7:00 PM- Film Screening

9:00 PM- Event concludes

ABOUT THE FILM

Remaining Native is a coming-of-age documentary told from the perspective of Kutoven (Ku) Stevens, a 17-year-old Native American runner, struggling to navigate his dream of becoming a collegiate athlete as the memory of his great-grandfather's escape from the Stewart Indian boarding school begins to connect past, present, and future.

This film contains references to violence, sexual abuse against children, and systemic institutional abuse as it pertains to Indian boarding schools. There will be space for mental health support and decompression following the screening.

PARKING & ACCESSIBILITY:

Plenty of parking near the cultural center, behind our building and at building #6 (POST is closed on Fridays).

There is a handicap ramp and walkway- please note the screening grounds will be grass.
