Cancer rates in Iowa are among the highest in the nation, and Carroll County is considered a hot spot, with an average of 135 people diagnosed each year. Iowa has the 2nd highest cancer rate in the U.S., and is one of two states that continues to have a rising rate. Too many of our neighbors, friends, and loved ones are impacted by cancer, and too many are struggling in silence.
Lawmakers want to hear from you. We’re continuing our Bipartisan Community Listening Sessions with Carroll County, giving you the chance to speak directly with legislators about what it’s really like to face cancer in our communities.
Please join us for our upcoming session, details provided below.
📍St. Anthony Regional Hospital, St. Anthony Surgery Center 4th Floor, St. Anthony Room
🕒 Wednesday, September 24 at 7:00 PM
🎤 Survivors, caregivers, healthcare workers, advocates - your voice is essential.
You have the power to create real change. Our listening posts started this past January, and the ideas shared have already made an impact. Through these efforts, community members banded together to stop this year’s dangerous legislation that would have protected corporate profits over Iowans’ lives. You asked for money for pediatric cancer research funding and improved insurance coverage for diagnostics - all things that have now been signed into law.
It’s a start, but there’s so much more that we can do together.
We’re continuing our listening sessions by request, intent on maintaining proactive bipartisan work coming from the ground up, with community members bringing forth solutions.
Lawmakers are listening. But they need to hear from YOU.
Doors open at 6:30 PM. No RSVP needed.
