Blessing of the Animals

THIS SATURDAY at 1030 am we will have a special "Blessing of the Animals" service at Veteran's Park. September 2 is the annual feast day of Saint Mammas, a third century saint who was thrown to the lions when he was found to be a Christian by the Roman persecutors. However, by the Grace of God, Saint Mammas was unharmed by the beasts and was released. One of the lions ended up following the saint as his companion the rest of his days. For this reason, Saint Mammas is one of the patron saints of pet owners in the Christian world. To honor the day, we are asking for everyone to bring their pets to the park for a special prayer service and blessing for all our beloved "four legged friends" (both living and deceased).

We will meet at Veterans Park off Carolina Beach Rd Picnic Shelter #1
Located across from Murray Middle School between the playground and the concession stand.
