I Cantori di Carmel present
Koester & Figg: Skeletons of the Opera - A Benefit Concert

A Special December Treat: A Benefit for I Cantori’s Orchestra and All Saints’ Church Music Program

Harpsichordists Caitlyn Koester and Elliot Figg will perform a rare harpsichord four-hands program exploring the thrilling “skeleton” of Baroque opera. Stripped to its essential colors, the music becomes vibrant, transparent, and full of character.

About Koester & Figg

Harpsichordists Elliot Figg and Caitlyn Koester met in New York City in 2019. Sharing a love of opera scores, double-continuo, and modern arrangements of historical music, they strive to show audiences what excites them about the harpsichord’s sonic possibilities. Recent concerts include return engagements with the GEMS Midtown Concert Series and Berkshire Bach Society’s Harpsichord Festival. They can be found as a basso-continuo team with THEOTOKOS, NYBI, Ruckus, ACRONYM, and Spire, among others.

Caitlyn Koester is a harpsichordist and music director based in New York City. Noted for her “sharp and powerful performance” (La Scena Musicale), she can be found performing with today’s finest ensembles in early music, including Jupiter Ensemble, Ruckus, ACRONYM, TENET, New York Baroque Incorporated, Spire Chamber Ensemble, and Theotokos, among others. Her harpsichord duo, Koester & Figg, collaborates as a continuo pair for oratorio and chamber music across the country, and develops unique programs of four-hand harpsichord music presented by Berkshire Bach Society and GEMS. Her recording of Graupner’s complete sonatas for violin and harpsichord was released by ATMA Classique in December 2023. An avid educator, she has been on collegiate and pre-college faculty at San Francisco Conservatory, and holds degrees from the University of Michigan, San Francisco Conservatory, and The Juilliard School. She has been part of every I Cantori Baroque
project since 2022 as well as the Mozart Requiem in 2023.

Elliot Figg is a keyboardist, conductor and composer from Dallas, Texas. He is a graduate of the Historical Performance Program at The Juilliard School where he studied harpsichord with Kenneth Weiss. He has also studied with Arthur Haas at the Yale School of Music. Elliot is an active member of several New York based early music and contemporary ensembles, including Ruckus, ACRONYM, and House of Time. Recent engagements include Handel’s Giulio Cesare at Hudson Opera Theater with Ruckus and the recording of their forthcoming second album with flutist Emi Ferguson; Assistant Music Director at Dallas Opera for Gluck’s Orfeo; and the forthcoming summer festival at Lincoln Center with
Ruckus and AMOC*.

All proceeds from the evening support I Cantori’s Orchestra Musician Fund and the All Saints’ music program.

Date: Monday, December 15, 2025
