Event details
In the fair meadows of the Shire of Blak Rose, we invite lords and ladies to draw aside from the cares of the city and indulge in the simple pleasures of the Italian countryside. Plans are preliminary at this time as to marshal activities. There will be games of chance and "horse" (hobby horse) racing. The hobby horses will also be used by noble warriors to vanquish foes, knocking their heads off posts in an equestrian-like course, a fine equine exercise for anyone planning to go adventuring. The grand sport of sheep tossing will be introduced to our fair valley. Archery and thrown weapons competitions will be offered.
Lunch Menu: Chicken prepared with cheese and garlic; sweetened rice with almonds; fried mushrooms; green salad; a devised meat of Almonds; fruits and cheeses. Recipes are from the Epulario, or, The Italian Banquet Translated out of Italian into English as originally printed in 1598 and as corrected back to the recipes as composed by Maestro Martino de Como.
No alcohol, tobacco, or pets.
We are inviting teachers to share their knowledge within the rooms of the large cabin. Anyone interested in teaching should contact the event steward.
If you are new to medieval reenactment and have nothing to wear, contact the event steward with your height and width. The Shire of Blak Rose has a "Gold Key" – clothes that you can borrow for the day.
