The Longest Night: Persephone’s Journey
A Solstice Gathering of Story, Song, and Sacred
Part II – Return of the Light
Sunday, December 21, 2025 · 10:00 a.m.
Calaway Room, Third Street Center
On this Solstice Sunday morning, we gather to welcome back the light.
Drawing on the myth of Persephone and Demeter, we’ll reflect on what it means to emerge from a season of darkness with new wisdom, tenderness, and strength. Through simple ritual, song, and shared reflection, we’ll honor what has changed in us and celebrate the slow turning toward longer days.
This service is the second part of our Winter Solstice offering, following “The Longest Night: Persephone’s Journey – Part I: Descent into Darkness,” held Saturday evening in the Community Hall at Third Street Center. You are warmly invited to attend either gathering on its own; each stands alone, and together they form one story. Co-created by Two Rivers Unitarian Universalist (TRUU) and The Center for Human Flourishing, this service is open to all — all faiths, no faith, the curious and the questioning.
