November walk: Carlisle Circuit
Location:
Carlisle River, Chapplevale North (closest town is Gellibrand 7km away).
Distance:
13.3km circuit, taking 4 hours to complete.
Difficulty level:
Medium grade. Total elevation climb is 430 metres.
Meeting point:
Bunker Hill Track & the Gellibrand Carlisle Road intersection, Carlisle River (pin drop will be shared).
Highlights:
This is a unique heathy-woodland ecosystem, and is an ecological refuge for some of our endangered small native mammals. It is also rumoured to be a site where meteorites hit and remnants can be found. This circuit walk will take us on a wander through the Otways National Park.
