Performed by the world-renowned Tallis Scholars under the direction of Peter Phillips, this festival finale programme celebrates one of the most fluent musical minds in the history of classical music, Orlando Gibbons, whose bust stands here in the Cathedral Nave.
With their unparalleled vocal clarity, The Tallis Scholars present five of Gibbons’ greatest sacred compositions, including the rarely performed, O Lord in thee is all my trust. The programme fans out to feature the colossal Te Deum from Tomkins'[ Third Service (his Great Service), Tallis' equally fascinating setting of the same text, and two pieces by Thomas Weelkes.
