About the event

Raymond Antrobus & Alice Vincent: Hearing and Being Heard
Award-winning poet Raymond Antrobus speaks to Alice Vincent, twice Wainwright Prize-longlisted author of Why Women Grow, about sound, identity, listening, and finding a voice.

British-Jamaican writer Raymond Antrobus was first diagnosed as Deaf at the age of seven. Now, in The Quiet Ear: An Investigation of Missing Sound he presents a ground-breaking exploration of deafness, exploring what it means to live in the ‘in-between-ness’ of the deaf and hearing worlds.

Alice Vincent’s Hark: How Women Listen charts a journey into sound that will ring true for many women; one of listening, seeking connection, and striving to be heard in a world that has grown too distracted and loud.

This event will be BSL interpreted.
