When humans discover the giant planet Melancholia is on a collision course with Earth, sisters Justine (Kirsten Dunst) and Claire (Charlotte Gainsbourg) are preparing for Justine’s wedding. While composed Claire panics, depressive Justine embraces the end calmly.

Lars von Trier’s strange and beautiful movie depicts the end of humanity with dreamlike imagery and an epic Wagner soundtrack.
