The last of Geoff Page’s readings for 2025 will feature Peter Bakowski from Melbourne and Rosa O’Kane from Canberra.
2025 represents Peter Bakowski’s 43rd year of writing poetry.
As a poet he remains influenced by the following quotes:
“Use ordinary words to say extraordinary things” – Arthur Schopenhauer.
“Make your next poem different from your last” – Robert Frost.
“Give yourself a dollar for every word you can get rid of.” – David Lumsden.
In 2022 Rosa O’Kane was awarded the June Shenfield National Poetry Award for an emerging writer for her work titled ‘If I Put It In A Poem’. In June 2024 she won the Wollongong Art Gallery Poetry Prize run by the South Coast Writers Centre for her poem ‘On Slack Water’. Her poetry has been read on radio, featured in print and online journals.
Rosa was born in Northern Ireland, has lived and worked in Canberra for 30 years.
