In this introductory workshop, you'll learn the beginner basics of hidden coil technique including how to create a starter circle and progress your base using long and short stitch.
In this 3hr session you'll create a small flat-worked round suitable to use as a coaster, brooch or hung ornament (fixings provided).
The materials are simple - you'll be working with raffia (a natural fibre), a wide-eyed tapestry needle and your hands.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners or those wanting to revise foundation techniques before progressing to more complex projects.
Please note: basket weaving is a slow and incremental process that cannot be rushed. It's not complicated, it simply takes time... People work at different paces. If you don't complete your piece during the 3-hour workshop, you will go home with the knowledge and skills to do so! If you catch the weaving bug, you can always come along to one of our monthly social sessions to continue your journey alongside other creative folk (affectionately deemed basket cases).
