Ms Caitlin McCartney is an accomplished renal specialist dietitian with extensive clinical experience across both South Eastern and South Western Sydney Local Health Districts. She currently serves as the Senior Renal Dietitian at Campbelltown Hospital, where she leads a dedicated dietetics team providing care to pre-dialysis, haemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis patients throughout the Macarthur region.
Caitlin graduated with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Wollongong in 2017. Since then, she has pursued advanced clinical training in renal nutrition, enabling her to practise at an advanced scope.
In addition to her clinical role, Caitlin is a PhD candidate at Monash University. Her research focuses on the clinical utility of nutrigenetic testing, with a particular interest in the role of personalised nutrition strategies in managing salt intake and blood pressure control.
Caitlin is passionate about nutrition interventions to delay the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Alongside her hospital role, she also works in private practice, where she provides targeted dietary advice to individuals in the early stages of CKD. Her work is driven by a strong commitment to evidence-based care, preventative health, and improving long-term outcomes for people living with kidney disease.
Mrs Sally Quinnell MP has represented the Camden electorate since her first election to the position in March 2023.
Sally grew up in the St. George area, but moved to Camden to raise her children Ben, Molly and Grace with her husband Damien. She has lived and worked in the area ever since.
Before entering Parliament, Sally was a teacher at public, private, non-government and independent schools across Western Sydney and the wider Camden area.
She studied Music Education at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and owned and operated her own business in the wider Macarthur area, teaching music to primary and high school students.
Through her work and constant involvement in the community, Sally has seen students, parents and community members face issues of access -- access to healthcare, work, housing and education. Combined with recent cost-of-living pressures and 12 years of Liberal National Government neglect in the area, Sally was driven to run for the state seat of Camden.
Dr Hari Nandakoban is an interventional nephrologist and medical educator that has a special interest in the management of hypertension, prevention of kidney stones and management of chronic kidney disease. He performs dialysis vascular catheter access, percutaneous PD catheter insertions and renal biopsy as part of the interventional team at Liverpool Hospital.
Dr Nandakoban is a Senior Staff Specialist at Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals, and the Network Director of Physician Education for the Liverpool Network. He is a Conjoint Lecturer of the University of New South Wales. Over the years he has been awarded the AMA (NSW) Teacher of the Year, and Liverpool Hospital Staff Member of the Year for dedication to medical education and services to the hospital. He undertook most of his specialist training in the South West of Sydney and has spent all his consultant life looking after this community.
Prof Martin Gallagher is Head of the Clinical School and Precinct in South Western Sydney for the University of New South Wales, and a Clinical Academic in Renal Medicine at Liverpool Hospital. Prior to taking up his current role, he was a Clinical Academic at Concord Hospital and the University of Sydney. He completed a Harkness Fellowship at Yale University in 2009-10 and his research interests encompass acute kidney injury, clinical trials and renal epidemiology. He’s led a team of clinical renal researchers at the George Institute for Global Health, along with international collaborators.
Martin has also made important policy contributions to healthcare, including leading national evidence implementation projects, leading elements of the Australian Governments National Chronic Disease Strategy and projecting the future burden of kidney disease. He has been Departmental Head at two renal units, held senior committee roles within the Australia and New Zealand Society of Nephrology and led major clinical trials.
Dr Jason Toniolo is a vascular surgeon dedicated to providing comprehensive care for all arterial and venous conditions in the Illawarra and Southwest Sydney region.
Originally from Melbourne, Dr Toniolo is excited to return to New South Wales, having spent two years training in the state. He was born and raised in Melbourne, graduated from Monash University in 2012 and successfully entered the Royal Australian College of Surgeons’ Surgical Education and Training (SET) scheme in 2019. His rotations included placement at institutions such as the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Wollongong Hospital, St George Hospital, Monash Hospital, and Box Hill Hospital, each of which were selected to give him a broad exposure to complicated arterial and venous endovascular interventions, diabetic foot limb salvage and tissue preservation, renal access and transplantation surgery and complicated open surgical arterial reconstructions.
Dr Toniolo believes in a collaborative approach to care, working closely with general practitioners to ensure optimal outcomes for their patients. He is dedicated to providing personalised treatment plans tailored to each individual’s unique needs. He can service all public and privately insured patients at Wollongong public and private hospitals, with services soon to be available at The George Centre.
When not in the operating room, Dr Toniolo enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, strenuous exercise with his golden retriever and fine whisky on weekends.
