About this Event

📐 Architecture Photography Workshop

Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge

Step inside one of Cambridge’s most historic colleges and learn how to photograph architecture with purpose, precision, and creativity.

Join us for a rare photography workshop inside Corpus Christi College, founded in 1352 and home to the oldest complete court in Cambridge. With medieval stonework, layered courtyards, classical symmetry, and subtle contrasts of light and shadow, Corpus offers an exceptional setting for architectural photography.

This is a hands-on, slow-paced workshop designed to help you see architecture differently — not just record buildings, but tell visual stories through space, structure, and detail.

🏛 Why Corpus Christi College?

Corpus Christi College is a living timeline of Cambridge architecture:

  • Old Court, dating back to the 14th century
  • Rich Gothic and medieval textures, stonework, and windows
  • Strong symmetry, leading lines, and repeating patterns
  • Constantly changing light and shadow across courtyards
  • A college founded by townspeople — unique in Cambridge’s history

It’s a dream location for photographers who enjoy composition, history, and quiet observation.

📸 What You’ll Learn

During the workshop, we’ll explore:

  • How to see architecture photographically, not just document it
  • Using symmetry, framing, lines, and negative space
  • Working with natural light and shadow in historic spaces
  • Managing perspective and avoiding distortion
  • Capturing both grand structures and subtle details
  • Building a visual story through architectural images

These skills are transferable to travel, interiors, urban photography, and personal projects.

🧠 Who Is This For?
  • Photographers of all levels
  • Anyone curious about architecture, history, and design
  • Those wanting to improve composition and visual awareness
  • DSLR, mirrorless, compact cameras all welcome

No prior architecture photography experience needed — just curiosity and a camera.
