A Girls' Cambridge Day Trip - Mosque Tour & Punting Adventure

Please read ALL information and instructions below -

We'll begin at the beautiful eco-friendly Cambridge Central Mosque where we'll enjoy the peaceful gardens before taking a guided tour of this stunning eco-mosque - a blend of traditonal Islamic architecture and sustainable design.

Afterwards, we'll wander through Cambridge's charming streets and enjoy a shared lunch. In the afternoon, we'll experience the city from the water with a gentle punting trip along the River Cam, passing by the famous colleges and bridges.

This trip is all about connection, conversation and discovery in a small, welcoming group of like-minded women.

Date - Sunday 14th August

Train Booking (you MUST book your own tickets) -

• Book via the Greater Anglia Website (Train times, tickets & service information | Greater Anglia)
• Please put in London Liverpool Street Station as your depature and Cambridge as your destination.
• Please select outbound train from London Liverpool Street Station as 8:57am. Inbound train from Cambridge to London Liverpool Street is 6:50pm.
• Return tickets cost £18.90 in total, per person. (This fare may increase if booked closer to the date. Railcards may reduce the cost)

There are two options for travel -

• Option 1 - Travel together: Outbound 8:57am from Liverpool Street. Arrive at Cambridge at 10:21am. Return 6:50pm from Cambridge. Arrive into Liverpool Street at 8:14pm. Direct trains, no stops. No planned engineering works either on this day or this route. Meet at Liverpool Street Station at 8.30am. I will be there from 8:20am onwards if you arrive earlier.

• Option 2 - Make your own way: Meet us at Cambridge Station at 10:20am or Cambridge Central Mosque at 11:30am.

Please note: Everyone MUST book their own trains.

Schedule -

10:20am to 11:15am - Arrival & Coffee

• Walk 20 minutes from Cambridge Station to the mosque
• Optional stop for coffee/snacks along the way

11:30am to 12:30pm - Mosque Tour

• Public guided tour of Cambridge Central Mosque (free, donations optional)
• Garden visit after the tour (10 to 15 minutes)

12:45 to 2:45 - Shared lunch

• Lunch at the renonwed Jordanian resturant, Little Petra. Walk from the mosque to Little Petra is 25 minutes

3:15pm to 4:15pm - Punting on the River Cam

• Shared guided punt (average price is usually £25pp)
• Booking fee - £10 deposit (excluding Eventbrite fees) to secure your spot, paid in advance.
• Remaining balance (£15 to £20) to be paid on the day.
• In case of rain - if the weather doesn't allow for punting, we'll swap it for an indoor activity such as visiting the beautiful Fitzwilliam Museum, browse the covered market or enjoy a cosy cafe together. The day will be meaningful and enjoyable whatever the weather! Your £10 deposit will be refunded.

4:15pm to 6pm - Explore Cambridge/Tea & Coffee wrap up

• Explore King's Parade, charity shops, optional quick college stops
• Grab a chelsea bun and a coffee at the famous Fitzbillies
• Have some delicious ice-cream from the well-known Jack's Gelato

6pm onwards - Make way back to the Cambridge Station and return to London

Costs Summary -

• Train: Each person books their own train via Greater Anglia Website. We are departing at 8:57am from Liverpool Street Station and returning to Liverpool Street Station with the 6:50pm train.
• Mosque Tour: Free (donation optional on the day, paid to the mosque)
• Punting: Average price for punting is usually £25 (disclaimer - this can always change by a few pounds, up or down). £10 deposit to be paid now (excluding eventbrite fees). Remaining approx £15 to be paid on the day indivudally).
• Food/drinks: Pay your own.

Notes

• Bring comfortable shoes and water bottle
• Deposit is non-refundable to ensure fair access for everyone for the tickets
• Dress modestly for the mosque and bring a headscarf.
• The day is relaxed - come for culture, photos and friendship!
• Please arrive on time to stick to the schedule
