Spirit of Smokie - it's Sunday night and it's 70s night!
n the 1970s the original incarnation of Smokie enjoyed 15 Top 20 hits selling in excess of 30 million records worldwide.
In 1986 original singer Chris Norman departed to pursue a solo career and a second incarnation formed with his replacement Alan Barton building on an already loyal fan base but 9 years later tragedy struck and Alan lost his life in a tour bus crash, carrying the band.
In 2008 a special memorial concert was held with musicians Andy Whelan, Graham Kearns, and Ron Kelly (lifelong friends of Alan Barton) along with Alan's own son Dean taking vocals. It was a remark from an audience member saying 'it's almost like the Sprit of Smokie was on stage tonight'
And so it began....Now Spirit of Smokie with its well documented legacy delivers an awesome resemblance to the original 70s Smokie upholding the tradition and quality!
Expect a nostalgic trip back through an array of hits including Living Next Door to Alice, Mexican Girl, If You Think You Know How to Love Me, Don't Play Your Rock n Roll to Me and Lay Back in the Arms of Someone…
