Meitra Vélo à Ooty 2026 – Event Details & Rules
Vélo à Ooty is one of Kerala’s most iconic and enduring cycling challenges, proudly hosted by Calicut Pedallers since 2016.
Event Date: January 25, 2026 (Sunday)
Starting Point: Meitra Hospital, Calicut
Event Start Time: 05:00 AM
Ending Point: Hindustan Photo Films, Ooty
Event End Time: 07:00 PM (approx.)
Distance: 160 km
Duration:14.00hrs * (There will be cutoff points along the route)
The event begins at Meitra Hospital, Calicut at 5:00 AM and concludes at HPF, Ooty, followed by a Felicitation dinner and medal ceremony at YWCA Anadhagiri, Ooty.
This year’s scenic route covers 160 km with significant elevation gains, testing endurance and spirit.
2) Ticket & Registration
Registration Opens: October 17, 2025
• Individual Category: ₹3,000
Limited Slots
• Team Category: ₹12,500 Limited Slots
Each team must include five members (any combination of men, women, or masters).
At least four team members must finish within the cut-off time to qualify for ranking. Team results will be determined using a points system based on the collective timing of individual members.

• Limited slots available register early to confirm participation.
• Choose your category correctly during registration.
3) Support
Participants will have ample volunteer support with well-placed water and refreshment stations, medical assistance, and emergency response along the route.
No vehicular recovery support will be provided for participants who do not complete the event.
All support vehicle should be authorised by the Vélo à Ooty
4) Bicycle Requirements
Participants must bring their own bicycles. Organizers will not provide bicycles.
All participants must:
• Use front and rear lights.
• Wear a reflective strip/jacket and helmet throughout the event.
• Attach one bib number on the front and one on the back of the bike.
5) Participants
Eligibility: Minimum age: 15 years
Participants aged 15–17 (minors) must have a parental consent letter, and a parent must accompany them throughout the route.
Categories:
1. Women’s (18 and above)
2. Men’s (18–49)
3. Masters (50 and above)
4. Team Race (5 members per team)
5. Minor (15–17, with consent)
All participants are required to sign a waiver form before the start of the event.
Awards & Recognition:
• Top 3 Podium finishers in Team Category – based on cumulative performance points
• Men’s Winner: King of Vélo à Ooty
• Women’s Winner: Queen of Vélo à Ooty
• Masters Winner (Men and women will be considered in one category): Legend of Vélo à Ooty
If a team participant secures the top overall position in the open category, that rider will also receive the respective open title.
All finishers will receive medals, certificates, and event merchandise.
Traffic rules must be followed strictly for the safety of all participants and road users.
Participants are expected to arrange their own accommodation in Ooty.
6) Cancellation Policy
Tickets once sold are non-refundable.
No refunds will be issued in case of participant cancellation.
7) Disclaimer
The organizers reserve the right to postpone, cancel, or make necessary modifications to the event in the event of natural calamities, epidemics, or any other unforeseen circumstances.
