A whacky, fun, one-of-a-kind "race" is coming to Caldwell!
Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 11, and the area’s inaugural “Race" for the Rest of Us. The “grueling” .5k event (one-third of a mile, 546.8 yards, 1,640 feet, and 19,685 inches) will take place in front of the Metro Community Services headquarters in Caldwell’s Sky Ranch Business Park.
Sign-ins will take place from 9-10 a.m., and the walk will begin at 10 a.m. “Racers” will re-energize with donuts halfway through the event!
The "race" is intended for all ages and abilities. Wheelchairs, walkers and strollers are welcome. Prizes will be awarded for the coolest walking shoes and hat, whackiest costume, most spirited group or team, and best decorated stroller, walker and wheelchair.
There is a $25 entry fee. Proceeds will benefit Metro’s transportation services, which provides free transportation for seniors and people with disabilities in Canyon County.

Metro Community Services offers free, door-to-door service for seniors and people with disabilities in Canyon County to medical appointments, senior centers, grocery and drug stores, Caldwell YMCA, Nampa Recreation Center, and other locations. For many passengers, Metro’s service is their only transportation option.
“Mobility is a key factor in providing independence for these folks,” stated Grant Jones, Metro Community Services/Meals on Wheels Metro Boise CEO. “These passengers depend and rely on our service.”
Metro Community Services provided transportation to nearly 11,000 Canyon County residents in 2024 and is on target to meet or exceed that number in 2025.
