A new event for 2025. This excursion into the Cotswold's has some very quiet & mainly flat pretty lanes with only one notable climb, Frocester. This is an ideal first 100mile ride for those pushing their distance.
Join us for a scenic 168km Audax event, starting at the Chepstow Cycling Club HQ, where youÆll enjoy a complimentary breakfast roll along with tea and coffee to kick off your ride. The route begins with a gentle climb out of Chepstow, followed by a stunning ride across the Severn Bridge into England.
From here, you'll navigate quiet back lanes, making your way to Frocester Hill, one of the most celebrated climbs in the UK. This ascent on the edge of the Cotswolds takes you from the Severn ValleyÆs flatlands up towards Nympsfield and Uley, offering breathtaking views across the Welsh border from the summit.
After the exhilarating climb, you'll descend into Nailsworth, where the first control point awaits. Here, you can refuel at a bakery, coffee shop, or Tesco Express before continuing on. The route then takes you over rolling hills and through the picturesque Cotswold Water Park, leading you to the historic town of Malmesbury for the second control. Malmesbury's High Street provides ample options for food and drink, making it an ideal spot to take a break.
As you leave Malmesbury, a steady climb on tranquil lanes brings you to the A46, followed by a thrilling descent into Pucklechurch, where an info control is located. The final leg of the journey covers the last 30km through the charming towns of Coalpit Heath, Frampton Cotterell, Tockington, and Olveston.
Crossing the Severn Bridge once more, you return to Chepstow, completing just over 100 miles (168km) of varied and beautiful terrain. With a generous time allowance of 11 hours and 40 minutes, riders of all levels can enjoy this challenging yet rewarding experience.
