IN THE FRAME: EXPLORING TEN WORKS OF ART new 10 week art history course live at Drill Hall

A range of beautiful paintings explored in detail, one each week for this 10 week art history and appreciation course with popular lecturer Eleanor Bird in person at the Drill Hall Chepstow on Monday afternoons, 2-4pm, begins on 29 September. Each painting is the start point for a journey of exploration into the art and the artists’ lives and times, from the 15th to the 20th centuries. From Renaissance Filippino Lippi to Modernist Cedric Morris, via the glorious colour of Titian, the glow of Wright of Derby’s industry, the Australian vision of Arthur Streeton and the Neo-Impressionism of Belgian artist Anna Boch. Dive into the pictures’ subject-matter, discover the artists’ works and life stories, the importance of patronage or the innovative technique. Simply enjoy a delicious assortment of works from the highly dramatic to the gently relaxing.
