Urban Development of Cairo
A lecture by Jarosław Dobrowolski,
📅 Saturday, 8 November | 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Throughout the almost 1,400 years since its establishment, Cairo has reconfigured and reinvented itself over and over. What parts or aspects of the city are long gone, and where does Cairo’s past still live in the modern urban organism? The presentation at the MASQ –Multicultural and Artistic Spaces at Qaitbey’s—will offer an overview of the complex and varied evolvement of the city called “Mother of the World” in the context of natural, historical, political, and cultural factors that shaped its course.
Jarosław Dobrowolski is a conservation architect, researcher and illustrator for whom Cairo has been home for more than thirty years. He is a Research and Development Officer at ARCHiNOS Architecture, an Egyptian consulting office that has been involved for many years with the monuments and the community of the Sultan Qaitbey’s area.
