Wisdom Friday
-
-

Being Religious:
• Focus: Rules, rituals, traditions, outward practices.
-
• Motivation: Often centered on duty, appearance, or identity (“I go to church every Sunday because that’s what a Christian does”).

• Risk: Can become legalistic, focusing on external behavior without real transformation of the heart.

-
Example: Someone may pray, fast, or give generously, but do it mainly to look “holy” or to feel righteous in comparison to others.
-VS-
Servanthood / Being Godly:
• Focus: Relationship with God, serving others out of love and humility.

• Motivation: Rooted in genuine faith, gratitude, and obedience to God’s will.

• Risk: Requires surrender, humility, and selflessness—harder to “fake” because it’s about the heart.

Example: Jesus washing the disciples’ feet (John 13:12–15). It wasn’t about ritual, but about showing love and modeling humble service.

-
Key Difference
• Being religious is about form (outward action).
• Living in servanthood/Godliness is about substance (inner heart, obedience, and love).
-
-
 Bible Connection:
• James 1:27 — “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

-
Here, true religion is not empty rituals but serving others with a godly heart.
 In short:
• Religious = ritual without relationship.
• Servanthood/Godly = relationship expressed in humble service.
Happy Friday everyone
