Three-year-old Marleigh is bright, beautiful, and full of life. She loves to play, laugh, and be surrounded by the people who love her most. But behind her sweet smile is a battle no child should have to fight.
Marleigh has been diagnosed with Epilepsy caused by an SCN1A gene mutation, commonly known as Dravet Syndrome—a rare, severe, and life-long neurological condition. This diagnosis changed everything for her family.
Dravet Syndrome causes frequent, unpredictable seizures that are often resistant to medication. These seizures can happen without warning—during sleep, playtime, or even moments of joy. Each one is terrifying. Each one carries risk. And each one reminds us how fragile life can be.
Since her diagnosis, Marleigh has endured countless hospital visits, emergency room trips, EEGs, genetic testing, medication trials, and specialist appointments. Her care requires constant monitoring, multiple anti-seizure medications, and specialized treatment plans. Even with all of this, seizures can still break through.
Beyond the medical challenges, there is the emotional weight no parent is prepared for—the fear of the unknown, the sleepless nights, and the reality that this is not something she will “outgrow.” Dravet Syndrome affects not only seizures, but development, mobility, and overall quality of life.
The financial burden is overwhelming. Medical bills, specialty care, medications not fully covered by insurance, travel to specialists, emergency equipment, and lost work time add up quickly. As parents Anna & Devin are doing everything they can to give Marleigh the safest, fullest life possible—but cannot do it alone.
