Buxton Hill Walks
Come join us for a scenic stroll through the beautiful hills of Buxton as part of the High Peak Walking Festival. Starting The 19th Hole in Fairfield and ending at The Zink Project. Enjoy the fresh air, stunning views, and good company as we explore the local hills and trails together.
We will take this local route for a second time, walking behind Fairfield and through the stunning limestone scenery of Woo Dale. We will be accompanied by Pete Webb who will use his expertise to help us understand how the limestone landscape was formed. Crossing the A6, we will meander home through the rolling green fields of King Sterndale, Cowdale and Staden.
Pete is a retired Geologist who spent many years in the international oil and gas industry. Since landing in Hayfield 24 years ago, he has become very interested in the geology of the Peak District. As Group Tutor for New Mills U3A Geology Group, he regularly takes adult groups on geological field trips not just to the Peak District but further afield, including the South Coast, Anglesey and the Lake District.
