Festival of Light at The Shops on West Diamond
December 13 • 11 AM to 5 PM
A community celebration inspired by the Swedish tradition of Lucia
Step into the light with us on December 13 as we celebrate Lucia’s Day, one of Sweden’s most cherished winter traditions. Known as the Festival of Light, this day honors Lucia, a young girl who brought warmth, hope, and nourishment to those in darkness.
The Legend of Lucia
According to Swedish folklore, Lucia would walk through the cold winter nights wearing a crown of candles to light her way. Her hands carried food, drink, and comfort for those who were hungry.
One of the most beloved parts of the tradition is Lucia bringing coffee and saffron buns (lussekatter) as a blessing in the early morning hours, symbolizing nourishment, care, and the return of light in the darkest time of year.
What to Expect at the Festival
Our celebration at The Shops on West Diamond brings this warm tradition to life with the traditional coffee and buns served to our guests!
This event is designed to bring our community together in the same spirit Lucia is known for kindness, comfort, and light in the winter season.
Join us for a beautiful day of tradition, brightness, and local joy.
