The Official World Black Pudding Throwing Championship will take place on Sunday 14th September 2025. 😬

11 am - 4pm, Bridge Street, Ramsbottom.

A Brief History:

The Official World Black Pudding Throwing Championships in Ramsbottom celebrate the rivalry between Lancashire and Yorkshire. Legend says the tradition began during the Wars of the Roses, when soldiers on either side of the River Irwell ran out of arrows and hurled their lunches instead—black puddings from Lancashire against Yorkshire puddings.

Organised by Stubbins Village Community Trust, this much-loved tradition continues as a fun annual contest, while also helping to raise funds for local charities. ☺️
