If you're looking for a relaxed and friendly environment to learn new craft skills, then look no further than Queen Street Mill this October.
Over three creative days, join our staff and volunteers to explore the full journey of textile making- from raw wool to a finished piece of your own design.
Day 1 (Wednesday 8th October): Learn how to card and spin wool fibres into thread using drop spindles, spinning wheels, and carding combs. Begin planning your design and warp up your handloom.
Day 2 (Thursday 9th October): Dive into weaving on rigid heddle looms using a mix of materials, including your own hand-spun thread. Try out techniques like braid weaving and peg-loom weaving to add texture and colour.
Day 3 (Friday 10th October): Finish your textile piece, unbind it from the loom, and explore any techniques you missed. You’ll also receive advice on how to wash and display your creation.
Whether you're a curious beginner or a seasoned crafter, you'll learn new skills in a relaxed, friendly environment inspired by the heritage of Queen Street Mill. Come along, get cosy, and connect through craft! You don't have to book onto all the workshops, you can choose to just book one based on your interest!
Suitable for ages 16+.
