This class is part of the local Ymca to highly recommend becoming a member of however, you don’t wanna become a member. I just wanna drop in and try a class. It’s only $5.
Before we jump into the overview of the class, I think it’s important to mention that yes if you walk by this class, it can seem intimidating however, I promise you this class will give you a great workout and it’s a lot of fun and the instructors are absolutely amazing. They are supportive and encouraging. They are helpful without being embarrassing and you will have a great time! This is especially a great class if you’ve ever wanted to get into doing any strength training with weights because they will teach you how to do it, what muscles you’re working and correct form.
Class Overview
Les Mills BODYPUMP™ is the original barbell-based group strength class, designed for anyone looking to tone, sculpt, and get lean—quickly and effectively. It utilizes light to moderate weights with high repetitions, offering a compelling mix of strength training and cardio-style pacing.   
Typically structured to target the entire body, the class includes exercises like squats, presses, lifts, and curls, all performed to motivating, pre-choreographed music.

What to Expect & Participant Tips
• Equipment: The YMCA typically provides everything—barbells, weight plates, steps, benches, mats. You may want to bring a water bottle, towel, and wear supportive athletic shoes and breathable workout clothes.  
• Beginners: Participants with no weightlifting experience are welcomed. Instructors will help set up and offer easier modifications.   
• Intensity & Progression: Start light and gradually increase weight over 4–6 weeks or as you feel stronger.  
• Community and Coaching: Expect a high-energy atmosphere—with upbeat music and encouraging instructors guiding the entire class.
