Rounds: 3
Win-Path Pairings: Your first-round opponent will be randomly assigned. For subsequent rounds, we use "Win-Path" pairings:
Players will face off against others with the same record, who also won and lost in the same rounds.
For example, a player who lost Round 1 and won Round 2 will play another player with the same record, rather than someone who lost both their fi rst two rounds.
This system ensures players face opponents with similar performance and helps maintain balanced skill levels and sportsmanship in later rounds.
Game Speed & Time Management: Round Time Limit: 2 hours per round.
A brief grace period will be given after each round’s pairings are posted for players to fi nd their tables and set up.
Since most players don’t use a clock during casual games, we recommend using a chess clock to keep things moving.
Setup: Each player gets 50 minutes per side, with 10 minutes allowed for team explanations and setup.
Clock Use: The clock starts when deployment begins. It only pauses when transitioning between turning points (activation token flips and scoring).
Penalties: The clock will not pause during judge calls. Pausing the clock improperly can result in warnings or penalties.
Important: If a player’s clock runs out and the other player still has more than 15 minutes remaining, the player whose time ran out cannot take any more actions, and the opponent will finish the game. If time discrepancies arise, the tournament organizer will make fi nal decisions.
Scoring: Scores will be submitted digitally via the Best Coast Pairings app. If digital submission fails, players can hand in their score sheets to the tournament organizer.

Late arrivals for Round 1: The clock will start for late players when Round 1 begins.
Event Awards:
1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place: Top players based on tournament results. Prizes may be added for Ties.
Best Painted: Awarded to the player with the best-painted K*ll Team and/or display board. (Note: Commission-painted teams are not eligible.)
Best Sportsman: Voted by opponents, with the lowest record winning in case of a tie.
Raffles: Additional prizes will be raffled off to participants who haven’t already won an award. (One prize per player.)
Board Layouts: Each K*ll Zone will be pre-set by the tournament organizer. A map key will be provided for each board, take a moment before each game to ensure the terrain is accurately placed.
Once a game has started the terrain is played as it is. If an impactful terrain inaccuracy is noticed mid-game and players cannot arrive at a timely unanimous decision, call the judge.
Player Code of Conduct: At Torchlight Gaming, we emphasize the importance of good sportsmanship. Players should greet their opponent, introduce themselves, and begin promptly. We expect everyone to demonstrate respect and integrity throughout the event.
Judges: Tournament organizers will be available throughout the event and will have the final say on all game rules and issues. Individual rulings are based on the correct interpretation of the rules, not previous precedents. Judges are empowered to stop illegal plays and provide assistance as needed. Players are encouraged to call for a judge if they have concerns.
Conceding: We encourage players to complete their games. Conceding early may impact tiebreakers and final rankings. If you must concede, follow the “End the Battle” rules in the K*ll Team Core Book. If you experience an emergency, inform the event staff immediately.
Cheating & Improper Play: While misplays can happen, repeated violations or blatant cheating will not be tolerated. Players who cheat will be ejected from the tournament and may be banned from future events.
