"Basically Bach" plays off the title "Mostly Mozart." As our season-opening recital by Paul Orgel on September 12 is entitled "Entirely Mozart" to distinguish it from "Mostly Mozart" programs, this concert of favorite works by J. S. Bach includes a work by one of Bach's sons, and another written by the performer, which was inspired by the towering example of the variation form concluding the concert.
Toccata in F Major, BWV 540
Schmucke dich, o liebe Seele, BWV 654
Prelude and Fugue in b minor, BWV 544
Allegro from Sonata in F Major, Wo70 No. 3 Carl Philip Emanuel Bach (1714-1788)
Passacaglia, Op. 20 (2011) Peter S. Berton (b. 1968)
Liebster Jesu, wir sind hier, BWV 731
