Pick Me Up: The importance of cue timing and subtractive reinforcement to teach and cue a horse to sidestep and sidle up to a mounting block to pick you up for a ride.

Shift mounting from a chore that the horse "endures". to an active partnership where the horse "welcomes" the rider's invitation!

The "Pick Me Up" method (often called the "Come Pick Me Up" exercise) is a popular horse training technique where you teach a horse to move its body parallel to a mounting block, fence, or stump so that you can mount easily.
