Turn Paper Into Cloth (Joomchi) with Anzara Clark

In this one-day workshop, learn how to use Joomchi (Korean paper felting) techniques to turn paper into cloth.

Explore texturing, fusing and collage-based approaches to create a large piece of paper cloth (1 metre) that you can use for textile projects, including accessories, garments, book arts, wall hangings and more.

As well as learning and applying Joomchi techniques, we will discuss paper structures and characteristics, and Japanese and other techniques for further strengthening and waterproofing your paper cloth, giving you the understanding needed to extend your paper cloth explorations in your practice. We will also look at how to combine wool and paper in a felted work.

The workshop is suitable for anyone interested in learning how to turn paper into cloth, using paper more innovatively in their current creative practice, or branching out into new creative paper adventures. It is particularly relevant for felt artists and those interested in innovative felting approaches.
