SPANISH DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKERS TO REVEAL LOST HISTORY OF MEXICAN NATIONAL ANTHEM COMPOSER AT THE BUFFALO HISTORY MUSEUM
Free Panel Discussion on October 14, 2025, Features Catalan Producer and Descendant of Famed Composer Jaime Nunó
BUFFALO, NY — The Hispanic Heritage Council of Western New York, Inc. (HHCWNY), in partnership with The Buffalo History Museum, invites the public to attend a special panel discussion and keynote presentation titled “The Forgotten Trunks of Jaime Nunó” on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 7:00 PM.
This free community event, held in the Museum’s Auditorium, will feature documentary filmmakers from Spain’s ACME Agency, who are currently producing a film about Jaime Nunó, the Catalan (Spanish) composer best known for writing the music of the Mexican National Anthem.
The panel will explore Nunó’s remarkable, yet little-known, four decades in Buffalo (1869–1908)—a period that shaped both his musical career and the early Hispanic cultural presence in Western New York. Attendees will gain a behind-the-scenes look at the documentary’s research and production process, including the unveiling of a film trailer and historical images related to Nunó’s life as a music director and vocal instructor in Buffalo.
