As we wind down summer and embrace the change of seasons, we will explore a blooming August flower, the sunflower.
Our class will focus on mastering the radial shape of sunflowers and the cluster of petals around their iconic center. We will work with minimal sketches and a limited color palette, focusing on creating a sunflower study of a single flower and its leaves while capturing its essence.
We will discuss layering, glazing, and detail-driven techniques, illustrated through watercolor painting, during class. Students will work with warm-up exercises and progress toward completing an 8x10 floral study to take home.
Students will receive a workbook to follow with the instructor during the class!
