Shining the Light: An Event by The RIT Big Shot Crew at Locust Street Art

The RIT Big Shot has been making striking, dramatic photographs of well-known structures and historical sites since 1987. The Big Shot is best described as a “painting with light” event that engages students, faculty, staff, and community members. Volunteers use flashlights to provide the primary light source of an otherwise darkened subject while RIT photographers capture a vibrant image that shines bright in the night.

In the leadup to the their newest project—illuminating Highmark Stadium before the Bills move into their home stadium next season—the RIT Big Shot crew will be coming to Locust Street Art to create a mini big shot of the LSA building! We are inviting the LSA community to come learn about the techniques behind the RIT Big Shot and participate in illuminating our building to create a unique night time shot of our organization's home. Bring your own flashlight or use one of ours and join us for this night of creativity and collaboration!

• Wear dark clothing
• Be prepared for inclement weather — the event will happen rain or shine
• Bring a flashlight or camera flash to help illuminate the building
• No tripods, laser pointers, or colorful/blinking items or clothing permitted
• We ask that you please arrive at 7:00 to maximize the amount of time for creating the mini big shot

Accessibility - Locust Street Art is located in a historic building with about nine steps to get into the building. We are currently fundraising to make our building more accessible.
