The 2025 Buffalo AFL-CIO Labor Day Parade and Cookout is just a few days away! On Monday, September 1st, 2025, bring your family and friends for a celebration of Workers' Labor Day! This year’s theme is “Fighting for Freedom, Fairness, and Security,” and we're taking back OUR day and as we show the big corporations who we are and how we fight.
All of the info you'll need for the day is below:
- 9:00 AM - Labor Day Mass at St. Martin of Tours Church
- 10:00 AM - Parade Line Up begins at Dorrance Ave & McKinley Pkwy
- 11:00 AM - Parade Steps Off! The route is the same as last year: McKinley to Red Jacket Parkway, to Warren Spahn Way and the Cazenovia Park Casino
- Cookout immediately follows conclusion of the parade
The following is a list of rules and guidelines to ensure that everyone’s participation in the parade and cookout is a safe, enjoyable experience. Please review with all members and individuals who will be participating in the day’s activities.
1. Parade line-up begins at 10:00 AM. Please be on time!
2. Check-in with the parade staff upon arrival. They will be wearing identifying fluorescent yellow shirts and will help you find your line-up spot.
3. All marchers will follow the directions of staff or will be unable to participate.
4. Floats must NOT be more than 12 feet tall.
5. ONLY cars that are American and union-made are allowed in the parade.
6. We ask all marchers to park their cars at or near Cazenovia Park. Buses will
shuttle marchers from the Peter J. Crotty Casino to Dorrance Ave from 9:00AM - 10:15 AM. This will eliminate congestion and members won't have to walk back to get their cars.
7. Politicians may walk with the Union of their choice, or will line up at Section 6 if marching separately.
8. Respect the community members' property by keeping off lawns and driveways.
9. Candy must be handed out, not thrown. This is required by the City of Buffalo.
10.This is a non-partisan, Labor event. Any pamphlets, flyers, or banners must not disparage, discriminate against, or attack any individual, party, or organization.
11. Any retirees or members with mobility needs are welcome to ride on one of the parade buses. These seats are available on a first-come basis.
12. The cookout is at the Peter J. Crotty Casino Shelter in Cazenovia Park. Food will be served starting around 12:00 PM.
13.Please dispose of garbage properly. Garbage totes are for trash, and recycling bins are for recycling.
