Dockside Demonstrations: BMC Volunteer Showcase
Come see the craftsmanship and dedication that bring the Buffalo Maritime Center and handcrafted wooden boats like the Erie Canal Boat Seneca Chief and the USS Trippe to life! At this special Dockside Demonstration, three of our talented volunteers will showcase the unique skills that keep traditional boatbuilding thriving:
Jonathan Thornton – Hand Tool Making
Robert Heckl – Machine Shop Techniques
Chris Andrle – Canoe Seat Caning
Devin Zimmer – Wooden Instrument Care and Repair
This is your chance to meet the makers, ask questions, and watch these artisans at work. If you’re curious about traditional techniques, inspired by hands-on craftsmanship, or just want a closer look at what happens behind the scenes at the BMC, this event is for you!
This all-ages event is non-ticketed and free to the public!
