The Mid Shires Orchard Group is delighted to invite other orchard groups, fruit tree owners and top fruit enthusiasts to join us for our 18th annual Springtime Scionwood Swap.
Visitors can share, swap and obtain scionwood (one-year old shoots for used for grafting) from many rare and local heritage apple, pear, plum and cherry varieties from around these four counties and further afield, as well as from garden trees and family favourites.
These can be grafted on the day onto rootstocks of choice, or be taken home for grafting, to make brand new fruit trees. These can be grown on and planted out in gardens, community or home orchards, fields and hedgerows, where they will mature and in due course, bear wonderful heritage fruit.
Bring along scionwood from your favourite top fruit trees...
> Swap these for others and have new trees grafted ‘while you wait’
> None to swap? Acquire scionwood from a wide selection on offer on the day, for a nominal sum
> Take your scionwood home to graft your own new trees, or have trees made on the day 'while you wait'!
> A wide range of rootstocks and grafting supplies are available from our hosts, the Buckingham Nurseries and Garden Centre
