Figure majeure des arts sonores expérimentaux, entre noise, computer music et improvisation, Russell Haswell développe depuis les années 1990 une œuvre conceptuelle radicale, centrée sur la performance et la spatialisation sonore à grande échelle.
Formé à la Coventry School of Art, il présente depuis plus de trente ans ses pièces et performances dans 29 pays, des salles de concerts aux musées, en passant par les festivals d’art et de musique. Il s’est produit récemment au Pirelli HangarBicocca et à Coventry Cathedral.
En parallèle, Haswell mène une intense activité de curateur, signant des projets pour MoMA PS1, All Tomorrow’s Parties, Aldeburgh Music, Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary ou encore Café OTO.
Installé à Glasgow, il poursuit une démarche sonore et artistique aussi intransigeante qu’inclassable.

Russell Haswell, een belangrijke figuur in de experimentele geluidskunst, tussen noise, computermuziek en improvisatie, ontwikkelt sinds de jaren ‘90 een raicaal conceptueel oeuvre, gericht op performance en grootschalige geluidsruimtelijkheid. Hij studeerde aan de Coventry School of Art en presenteert al meer dan dertig jaar zijn stukken en performances in 29 landen, van concertzalen tot musea en kunst- en muziekfestivals. Onlangs trad hij op in de Pirelli HangarBicocca en de kathedraal van Coventry.
Daarnaast is Haswell zeer actief als curator en tekent hij voor projecten voor MoMA PS1, All Tomorrow’s Parties, Aldeburgh Music, Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary en Café OTO. Hij is gevestigd in Glasgow en zet zijn compromisloze en onclassificeerbare muzikale en artistieke aanpak voort.

Récemment salué lors de son premier concert britannique au Café OTO, MT Gemini présente un live audiovisuel hypnotique mêlant noise, dub expérimental et manipulations sonores radicales. Anciennement repéré par The Wire Magazine, qui avait classé son premier album paru sur Sub Rosa parmi les 10 Records of the Year en 2009, l’artiste a partagé la scène avec Nik Colk Void, Drew McDowall ou Croatian Amor.
Son nouvel album Hawk Deh Near sortira le 12 février sur le label bruxellois Vlek.

MT Gemini, die onlangs werd geprezen tijdens zijn eerste Britse concert in Café OTO, presenteert een hypnotiserende audiovisuele liveshow waarin noise, experimentele dub en radicale geluidsmanipulaties worden gecombineerd. De artiest, die eerder werd opgemerkt door The Wire Magazine, deelde het podium met Nik Colk Void, Drew McDowall en Croatian Amor.
Zijn nieuwe album ‘Hawk Deh Near’ komt op 12 februari uit op het Brusselse label Vlek.
