Necessary info:
Each participant spends around 40 minutes on the water. Before getting into the kayaks to fish out as much rubbish as possible from the canal, we take a moment for a short introduction. This gives us a better understanding of Brussels' waterways, the issues surrounding pollution, sewer overflows and biodiversity, as well as the concrete solutions we are proposing with City to Ocean.
As our guide is on his own, we carry the equipment to the water together, and put it away together at the end. After the kayak trip, the participants take part in sorting the waste collected, so that it can be disposed of in the right bins.
Safety and participation conditions:
All participants must be able to swim. An adult must be present on the water at all times. The minimum age for participation is 8. There must be at least one person aged 16 or over in each kayak.
Practical information:
The meeting point is on the quay, near No. 8 Quai des Péniches, 1000 Brussels. We provide all the equipment, but please bring : A rain coat and - trousers against rain, wind and splashes, closed shoes (no sandals or flip-flops). We also have a secure cupboard to store your belongings if necessary.
