Barbastelle is a musical hybrid, blending the timbres of strings and woodwinds with impressionistic drumming, merging written chamber jazz with the spontaneity of free improvisation. Echoing Renaissance ‘broken consorts’ and the legacy of artists like Mal Waldron and Eric Dolphy, their music evokes Debussy, Bartok, and Takemitsu’s delicate sonic calligraph
