This training is designed for any and all volunteers and attendees of a burn events in Australia and for the upcoming Underland Burn.
We especially encourage anyone who is interested in volunteering for Sanctuary or as a Ranger as we will cover the basics on supporting festival attendees who require mental health first-aid or care while they are under the influence of a substance.
This will be a half-day gathering where we will learn from each other and build on our resilience as a community. No prior training in mental health is required and we gently ask that at least one volunteer from each theme camp come along.
We will cover some of the basics including
- Identifying and supporting someone who needs assistance
- Holding space for someone during a mind-altered state
- When to escalate to a paramedic or event lead
- What not to do
- Self-care
