HTP Teepee Trio

This edition of Hugh’s trio project features musicians Pat Jaffe and Alex Spicer whose mastery and lyricism inspire, and who are essential contributors to their original and improvised music scene. The three musicians are long-term collaborators and share a desire to thoughtfully bring joy to listeners. The performance will feature original compositions and improvisations informed by Hugh’s journey through music and the world, and inspired by artists like Stephen Magnusson, Kenny Wheeler and Aaron Shragge.

Hugh Parsons is an emerging trumpet player Naarm/Melbourne’s improvised music scene who is motivated by the beauty of the land we inhabit and the joy of shared musicmaking. His music evokes strength, vulnerability and playfulness, and invites a broad audience into his world while nurturing empowerment and optimism. He performs and records regularly with projects including Dropkeys & the Jazzlab Orchestra, vocalists including Bobby Fox, and he featured on the Monash Arts Ensemble’s 2019 Here Now Hear release featuring Paul Grabowsky.
